Coming for the summer, Tuesdays, beginning July 9: Reflection and Prayer Center Showing love for ourselves-this is something we know is important, but how do we do that? Our lives are so busy with tasks and responsibilities that we often think of finding time for self-care as another task to add to our list. But finding time to ease our minds and calm our souls is as easy as taking some time to simply be-to sit undisturbed and turn off the many thoughts that run through our minds, even for a few minutes. It is in this space that we find inner peace and understanding. In this space we hear God. This summer at Resurrection we will be offering our sanctuary to members and the community to do just that: sit in the quietness and just be. You are welcome to drop in between 6 and 8 PM (beginning July 9 and continuing at least until September) to sit with minimum distractions from the outside world. We will provide you with guidance if you like.

The “First Annual” Jazz Worship Service at Rez today was outstanding and added to fire our “salvation like a burning torch.” Special thanks to music director Henrietta Atkin and jazz recording artists Chris Greene & Marc Piane (of the CGQ) for contributing their talents to this inspirational experience.

During the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, poverty doesn't take a day off. Many people have to make the choice between heating their home, having money for transportation, having warm winter clothes or providing sufficient, healthy food for their family. Resurrection's Share the Gift program provides assistance for those who need help beyond what a food pantry or clothing closet can provide. When Resurrection was experiencing financial hardships, a nearby congregation donated a significant amount of money to help make it through the difficult time. When Resurrection returned to (relatively) solid financial grounds, the congregation decided to set aside the amount that had been given to them to establish the Share the Gift program. The program provides assistance to those with an emergency need who apply for funds. Since it began in 2017, Share the Gift has provided: emergency housing assistance, payment of utility bill, assistance with transportation and support for people displaced by an apartment complex fire. Share the Gift has also matched monetary donation from the congregation to organizations that have provided support and recovery efforts for those affected by hurricanes (including, Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands). Food4Life & Clothing Closet is part of Resurrection's Interfaith Outreach. In partnership with SABAH, the Interfaith Outreach provides food and clothing for those in through two separate pantry locations. This year we will also give special holiday bags to those in need. These bags will include many items (including a chicken!) for individuals to prepare a holiday meal. Your support of this program will help feed those in need during the holidays and into the new year. Please donate and spread the word. #ILGive #GivingTuesday
